i was looking into what certifications would be beneficial to me, so i was wondering how effective they actually are.
Eventually i plan on attempting my own web hosting/computer programming business. I was wondering how impressive (if at all) they look on a resume for being hired onto a company as a computer programmer/web designer/network technician.

When I look to hire someone I look to see what he knows and what he can do, not what courses he took or what certificates he got. The certificates don’t get the work done, the knowledge, ability and desire do. I’ll sooner hire someone who can demonstrate ability to do the work required and absolutely no formal education, than someone with 2 degrees and 10 certificates who’s a little shaky on actually doing the work.
bill gates. two words. also think of it this way: josh walks up to you and says yo i got a highschool diploma that’s it man i need a job with you. todd walks up to you with your compTIA highschool diploma ect and wants to work for you also. who you gonna hire?
well they are the first step on the road, after you do say A+ and internet+ you can move onto more complex things like MCP’s, like MCSA, or for more network side CCNA (cisco)
