| | Welcome to our E-Portfolio system. This short class is an introduction to the system, and gives very basic instructions on how to get started using the tools to build your E-Portfolio.

| 1 | Getting Started:
Some classes here allow guest access, so that students will not have to register for an account here in order to take the class. But, the E-Portfolio system needs to have a way to save your documents, and the only way to do this is to create your own student user account here. So, to use the E-Portfolio system, you will need to register for an account. After you register, you will receive an email that will contain a link to click on to verify your email address.
After you register and verify your account, when you log in you will see the E-Portfolio block in the top, right-hand corner of this page. Click on the item that says, "My E-Portfolio", to enter the tools area, and view the tools menu.
Tools Menu:
The tools menu consists of 6 menu items, explained below:
Information:
In this section you will give an overview of yourself.
Categories:
The category section lets you create categories for the items you will display in your portfolio. You might create a category named, "Web Graphics", for example, that will show off graphic images you have created. Another category might be, "PHP/MySQL scripts", which would be an area where you would describe and link to external scripts you have created. Web Tools Club members could create these Web applications in their hosting accounts, and then link to those projects here. You will probably add and edit categories over time, as you become more familiar with our tools, and figure out which projects you want to display in your portfolio.
My Portfolio:
This section is where you will create the portfolio. You can enter notes, enter Web links to projects that you have uploaded to your Web hosting account, and also directly upload files, such as graphic images you have created, .pdf and other files that you want to add to your portfolio.
Each time you add something to your portfolio, you will be able to choose the category that you want the item to be entered into, in order to organize your items.
Views:
This section allows you to create different "views" of your e-portfolio for different people. You can specify here whether you want to allow access to parts of your portfolio only to other students who have an account here (internal), and/or tutors or teachers who have accounts here, or you can allow external access to your portfolio for potential employers.
Export/Import:
This section is geared for teachers, and others who are familiar with SCORM. It allows you to upload SCORM based files, and also export your portfolio as a SCORM project.
Shared Portfolios:
This section displays a list of other students who have chosen to share their portfolios here, to let others view their work, and possibly give feedback. The forum at the top of this page can be used to communicate with other students to give them feedback after viewing their portfolio.
This access is set in the "Views" section, when you set up "internal" access to your portfolio.
